Update: Difficulty Adjustments!
Aephemera » Devlog
Hello! Thanks very much to everyone who has played and left comments on Aephemera! I've been making incremental updates since this was released to adjust the difficulty. I'm hopeful that after the version I just pushed, the difficulty will be in a more enjoyable range for the average player.
Since release, the following changes have gone live:
- The number of allowable mistakes was increased for Cognitive, Proprioception, and Visual exams.
- The rate of increase that the hourglass runs out in during the Reflex exam was reduced.
- Cursor hitbox adjusted in Proprioception so there is a little more buffer on how far it can extend outside the allowed area.
- Removed one of the possible questions from the Cognitive exam (it seemed too hard).
Getting feedback has been great, this is the first game I've made that wasn't walking-around-and-clicking-things, so I've had to do a lot of adjusting around getting the difficulty into the sweet spot for players. My hope is that it won't need further adjustments, but I'll keep an eye on how it's going. As always, thank you for playing.
